INDIA: UAN Visits School Giving New Hope to Street Kids – 2024
On this trip, UAN representatives performed a thorough investigation to ensure this school in Vaishali, Bihar, India is aligned with our values and mission and most efficiently and effectively run.
We witnessed firsthand how these devoted Vietnamese nuns and teachers lift these children out of a life of begging on the streets and into one not only of consistent food, structure and nurturing community, but one of hope, love and learning.
There is a Vietnamese saying: “First, learn manners. Next, acquire knowledge”. At this school, the children learn about ethics, humanity and meditation before they learn to read. UAN has a deep appreciation for the nuns who teach the children beyond reading and arithmetic, how to live life in gratitude and with a compassionate heart.
Many of these children are the first in their families to go to school to learn literacy and other disciplines, therefore the nuns must be very patient, caring and compassionate in order to be successful in their teaching.
